The most famed graduate (& one of our favorites) is designer Alber Elbaz, artistic director for the house of Lanvin.

The collections theme is personal; the ideas are derived from childhood experiences, adolescence, relationships, art, ecology, recycling etc. the students design their collections while experimenting with innovative, imaginative techniques like print, coloring, knitting, vacuum forming, molding along with accessories design and styling.
Here are our thoughts on some of our favorite collections:
Efrat Ziv – "The Housewife Syndrome"
| Designed by Efrat ziv | | | Efrat Ziv's collection opened the Shenkar graduates show July 8th 2008, and for a good reason. Her collection was inspired by the All-American perfect housewives of the 50's, a nice reminiscence of the "Stamford's Wives" idea. With the use of humor & a cynic eye she managed to emphasize the conflict between the phony, extreme effort of the strict conservative society that made the old "housewife" ideal so fake. The dresses were big, flowery and exaggerated, adorned with artificial flowers, embroideries and beads. Very playful, colorful and sweet.
Tatyana Pogrebniak – "The Ultramodern Future & Couture"
| Designed by Tatyana Pogrebniak | | | The young designer tries, successfully, to define the relationship between the human body and its surrounding space by creating innovative morphology of futuristic shapes; White leather & wool translated to a delicate, ornamental mixture of ultramodern designs drawn from the world of architecture and aviation. The hand work and the careful attention to small delicate details were very impressive.
Sharon Tal – "The 21st century Haute Couture"
| Designed by Sharon Tal | | | If you ever wondered how the high-tech world along with mass-production influences & affects the traditional strict haute couture world, you should have seen Sharon Tal's collection that signed off the Shenkar annual show. Tal's work technique is taken from the product design world, the dresses featured in the collection were 5 modern shaped dresses made out of elastic plastic molds, with the help of 3D software which formulates the patterns & helps to create the different features of lace, cut-out details and others beautifully made embellishments. The unique and challenging adventure of the young designer led to a breakthrough collection of fashion design in plastic, the new & inventive future of couture. Indeed, the future looks great! |
