Founded in 1913 in Milan, Prada S.p.A is an Italian fashion house.
The company, originally known in Italy as "Prada Brothers", was founded by Mario Prada in Milan as a manufacture of leather bags. In 1978, Mario's grand-daughter Miuccia Prada inherited the family business and led the company's expansion into couture with an overall more bohemian style. Miuccia Prada, born in 1949, entered the family business after university and soon revolutionized the appearance of its products. Her interest and surprising combination of materials led to the distinctive trademark of Prada's products. In 1989 Miuccia introduced women's wear with instant success, men's wear followed with equally success in 1995.
The Prada clothes stand out with their easily appealing appearance; they are described as cool, comfortable, pure, graceful and minimalist in colors and design.
Miu Miu is a second line of clothing, often simpler and reminds a constant image of high-end vintage items. Currently Prada is considered one of the most influential clothing designers in the fashion industry.
